DOTD to conduct routine inspection on Lake D’Arbonne flood control structure
UNION PARISH, La. – The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development advises the public that on Wednesday, August 26, 2027 beginning at approximately 8:00 a.m., DOTD will be conducting a routine inspection on the Lake D’Arbonne flood control structures (spillway and tainter gates) in Union Parish.
This operation involves inspecting all components of the structure, including the spillway gallery and the gears and pinions on the tainter gates.
As part of the inspection, the tainter gates will need to be fully raised in order to ensure they are properly functioning. Nearby residents are advised that the horns will sound during this portion of the inspection, and not to be alarmed.
Conducting these inspections ensures the structure is operating as designed and helps identify any areas that may need to be addressed. As a reminder, DOTD does not control activity on the lake itself.
