Friday, August 21, 2026 at 3:35:47 PM
Calcasieu Parish – The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development announces that the following roads will have alternate full closures, beginning 10 PM, Wednesday, August 26, 2026 until 2 AM, Thursday, August 27, 2026.
  • LA 379 (Sulphur Avenue) between Sampson St. and Miller Avenue.
  • LA 3878 (Sampson Street) from Sulphur Ave. to near the Union Pacific railroad tracks
This closure is necessary to transport a new Phillips 66 Pipe Rack module from a delivery yard off Miller Avenue to a staging area in the Phillips 66 tank yard west of Sampson Street. Work will be performed, weather permitting.

Police, contractor vehicles, and flagging personnel will escort the large, self-propelled carrier, which will be used to transport the pipe rack and then return to the yard off Miller. Each section of roadway impacted will be reopened to traffic when the carrier has passed through to minimize disruption to motorists.

Note: Horseshoe Boulevard will be open to traffic.

Safety reminder:
DOTD appreciates your patience and reminds you to please drive with caution through the construction site and be on the lookout for work crews and their equipment.
Area residents should exercise caution when driving, walking, or biking near an active construction zone.
