BRIDGE CLOSURE: LA 579 over Cook’s Slough, East Carroll Parish


The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development advises motorists that the LA 579 bridge over Cook’s Slough in southwest East Carroll Parish is currently closed for bridge replacement.

This bridge is located approximately 1.2 miles south of the intersection with LA 877 (see attached map).

This closure is anticipated to be in place until late December 2026, weather permitting.

DOTD is sending out this notification on behalf of the Office of Louisiana Highway Construction (OLHC), who is managing construction activities for non-federal aid (NFA) routes, as well as the bridge bundle projects across the state.

Inquiries regarding this project should be directed to OLHC.

Restrictions/Permits: Total road closure at the specified location. All vehicles will need to utilize an alternate route.

Alternate Route: Detour signage will be in place.

DOTD appreciates your patience and reminds you to please drive with caution through the construction site and be on the lookout for work crews and their equipment. Remember to leave plenty of room between you and the vehicle in front of you.

Area residents should exercise caution when driving, walking, or biking near an active construction zone.
