TERREBONNE PARISH – The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) is reminding residents, businesses and other interested parties of an upcoming open house public meeting for proposed improvements along LA 3040 (Martin Luther King Boulevard) in Houma.
The meeting will be held: Tuesday, Aug. 18, 2026 4–7 p.m. Life Church 2324 Coteau Road Houma, LA 70364
The proposed project, State Project H.013213, extends along approximately 2.6 miles of LA 3040 from about 600 feet south of Hollywood Road to LA 24.
Current preliminary plans include pavement milling, patching and overlay, along with proposed medians, J-turns and U-turns, bulb-outs, turn-lane improvements, pedestrian crossings and a multi-use path.
The open house is intended to provide information about the proposed improvements and give the public an opportunity to review the preliminary design and provide input before the project advances further. DOTD representatives will be available throughout the meeting to answer questions and discuss the project.
A continuous multimedia presentation explaining U-turn maneuvers will also be available, along with project maps and other displays. There is no formal presentation time, and attendees may arrive at any point between 4 and 7 p.m.
Verbal and written comments may be submitted during the meeting. Written comments may also be submitted after the meeting and must be postmarked by Sept. 18, 2026.
