EMERGENCY ROAD CLOSURE: US 71 in south Bossier Parish

The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development advises motorists that both directions of US 71 near Elm Grove in south Bossier Parish are currently closed due to a train derailment.
The closure location is between the intersection of LA 154 and LA 527.
Railroad crews are mobilized on site to begin the clean-up process.
The time frame for re-opening the roadway is unknown at this time. DOTD will send another update when additional information becomes available regarding the reopening status.
Inquiries regarding the train derailment should be directed to the Bossier Parish Sheriff’s Office. Motorists should be prepared to utilize an alternate route.
Restrictions/Permits: Total road closure at the specified location.
Alternate Route: Detour signage is in place.
This work will be performed WEATHER PERMITTING.
