UPDATE - LANE CLOSURES: Flashing yellow left turn arrow installation, Rapides Parish
The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) advises motorists that beginning on Sunday, August 9, 2026 at 7:00 pm, weather permitting, there will be nightly alternating lane closures at the following intersections in Rapides Parish as part of the ongoing $9 million project to upgrade traffic signals along state routes to include the flashing yellow left turn arrows.
One lane in each direction will remain open at all times:
- LA 28 and Vanderburg Dr. (LA 3054)
- LA 28 and Versailles Blvd.
- MacArthur Dr. and Bayou Rapides Rd. (LA 496)
- MacArthur Dr. and Crossing near Stimson (First crossing South of LA 28 West)
These lane closures are scheduled to take place from approximately 7:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. nightly, and are necessary to allow for the work associated with partial upgrades of existing signal poles related to the flashing yellow left turn arrows (Phase 2 in the Alexandria region).
All work is anticipated to be completed at these intersections by August 14, 2026, with progress dependent on weather conditions and other factors that can impact construction timelines.
The contract was awarded to Jack B. Harper Electrical, LLC.
