PROJECT UPDATE: LA 544 (Tech Dr) overpass over I-20, Lincoln Parish
RUSTON, La. – The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development announces an update on the LA 544 (Tech Dr/Cooktown Rd) overpass replacement project over I-20 in Ruston, Lincoln Parish.
The $39 million project continues to make progress, with the contractor currently performing significant drainage improvements and dirt work along LA 544 in preparation for future roundabouts and roadway construction.
Construction on the foundations of the new overpass is also moving forward, in addition to major work on the new mechanically stabilized earth (MSE) wall. This wall will retain large areas of embankment, assisting with the load bearing and support for the new bridge.
Motorists should remain alert for ongoing lane closures on LA 544, as well as intermittent/alternating lane closures that are necessary on I-20. Drivers are urged to use extreme caution while approaching and driving through the work zone.
The entire project is on track to be complete in late 2029, weather and other factors permitting.
