Previous notification - 8/3/2026:

SHREVEPORT, La.
– The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development advises motorists that on beginning on Monday, August 10, 2026, the I-20 westbound off-ramp to LA 526 (Exit 8 – Bert Kouns Ind. Loop) will be closed as part of an ongoing project to improve safety and traffic flow at this interchange.

The exit ramp is scheduled to remain closed for two (2) weeks, to be reopened on Monday, August 24th, weather permitting. The closure is necessary to allow the contractor on this project to perform concrete pavement repairs on the existing ramp.

The project involves extending the deceleration lane to allow for additional vehicle storage, which improves safety by allowing extra space for exiting vehicles to move from the higher speed interstate travel lanes.

Motorists should be advised of this temporary ramp closure, and plan accordingly, noting that there may be additional congestion in this area, particularly during peak travel times.

Restrictions/Permits: Total ramp closure at the specified location. All vehicles will need to utilize an alternate route.

Alternate Route: Appropriate detour signage will be in place. Westbound vehicles on I-20 will be detoured via US 80 (Greenwood Rd) and back to LA 526 (Bert Kouns).

This work will be performed WEATHER PERMITTING.

Safety reminder:

DOTD appreciates your patience and reminds you to please drive with caution through the construction site and be on the lookout for work crews and their equipment. Remember to leave plenty of room between you and the vehicle in front of you.

Area residents should exercise caution when driving, walking, or biking near an active construction zone.
