UPDATE: Calcasieu Parish – The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development has announced that the I-10 Westbound entrance at Sampson Street in Westlake will be open to passenger vehicles only from 5 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Wednesday, August 5, 2026. Traffic will be directed with flaggers.
All non-passenger vehicles will use the following detour route:
- To access I-10 WB from Sampson Street, head south on Sampson Street and proceed under the I-10 overpass, then enter I-10 EB at the I-10 S. Frontage Road, then take Exit 29 at (N. Lakeshore Drive), U-turn at Veterans Memorial Boulevard, then enter I-10 WB at N. Lakeshore Drive.
The I-10 WB entrance at Sampson Street will close at 1 p.m. to allow for replacement of the crash beam. The entrance is tentatively scheduled to reopen by 7:30 p.m. Aug. 5, 2026.

DOTD appreciates your patience and reminds you to please drive with caution through the construction site and be on the lookout for work crews and their equipment.
Area residents should exercise caution when driving, walking, or biking near an active construction zone.
