DOTD announces $2.82 million improvement project on LA 397 from LA 14 to US 90 to begin Aug. 3, 2026 – Calcaiseu Parish

Calcasieu Parish – The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development has announced that a $2.82 million improvement project on LA 397 from LA 14 to US 90 is scheduled to begin Monday, August 3, 2026.

Motorists can expect alternating lane closures in the NB and SB directions of LA 397. Traffic will be maintained in both directions, with flaggers controlling traffic through the work zones. There will be a 14-foot width restriction in place from 7 a.m. until 5 p.m. daily.

Improvements include milling asphalt concrete, pavement patching, reinforced paving mat with asphalt tack coat, culvert rehabilitation, asphalt concrete overlay, and related work.

The project is expected to last until mid-January 2027, weather permitting. R.E. Heidt Construction is the contractor for the project.
