UPDATE: Lafayette Parish - Interstate 49 - Alternating Lane Closures and Ramp Closures

LAFAYETTE/ST. LANDRY PARISH, LA - Motorists are advised of the next round of alternating lane closures as part of the $43 million resurfacing project.

These closures are necessary to complete paving, joint sealing and saw cutting operations and will take place during overnight and weekend hours to minimize traffic disruptions.

Northbound I-49 – Paving and Reinforcing Grid Operations
Alternating lane closures will occur on the I-49 southbound mainline from approximately 2500 feet north of Exit #4 (Carencro) and ending approximately 6600 feet north of Exit # 7 (La 182) during the following dates and times:
  • Monday, July 13: 8:00 p.m. – 7:00 a.m.
  • Tuesday, July 14 – 8:00 p.m. – 7:00 a.m.
  • Wednesday, July 15: 8:00 p.m. – 7:00 a.m.

Southbound I-49 – Paving and Reinforcing Grid Operations
Alternating lane closures will occur on the I-49 southbound mainline from approximately 7000 feet north of Exit #7 (La 182) and ending approximately 1800 feet north of Exit #4 (Carencro) during the following dates and times:

  • Thursday, July 16: 7:00 p.m. – 6:00 a.m.
  • Saturday, July 18: 7:00 p.m. – 10:00 a.m.
  • Sunday, July 19: 7:00 p.m. – 5:00 a.m.

Southbound I-49 – Joint Sealing & Saw Cutting Operations
Alternating lane closures will also be in place for joint sealing and saw cutting operations from Carencro on the I-49 southbound mainline starting during the following dates and times:

  • Monday, July 13: 7:00 p.m. – 5:00 a.m.
  • Tuesday, July 14 – 7:00 p.m. – 5:00 a.m.
  • Wednesday, July 15: 7:00 p.m. – 5:00 a.m.
  • Thursday, July 16: 7:00 p.m. – 6:00 a.m.

Southbound I-49 – Full Depth Patching Operations
Alternating lane closures will also be in place for patching operations on I-49 from Carencro to I-10 starting during the following dates and times:

  • Friday, July 17: 8:00 p.m. – 8:00 a.m.
  • Saturday, July 18 – 7:00 p.m. – 10:00 a.m.
  • Sunday, July 19: 7:00 p.m. – 5:00 a.m.

Ramp Closures
Ramp closures will also be in place for saw cutting and patching operations during the following dates and times:

I-49 Carencro Exit 4 (Exit and On Ramps in the north and southbound direction)
  • Monday, July 13: 7:00 p.m. – 5:00 a.m.
  • Tuesday, July 14 – 7:00 p.m. – 5:00 a.m.
  • Wednesday, July 15: 7:00 p.m. – 5:00 a.m.
  • Thursday, July 16: 7:00 p.m. – 6:00 a.m.
  • Friday, July 17 at 8:00 p.m. – Sunday, July 19 at noon

All work is weather permitting and subject to change.

Motorists should expect delays, exercise caution in work zones, and consider alternate routes when possible. Crews will work to complete operations as efficiently and safely as possible.

For the safety of workers and drivers, please reduce speed and remain alert when traveling through construction areas.
