Emergency Closure: Boudreaux Canal Bridge on LA 56 in Terrebonne Parish
Friday, July 10, 2026 at 9:59:22 AM
TERREBONNE PARISH – The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development advises motorists that the Boudreaux Canal Bridge on LA 56 in Terrebonne Parish is currently closed to vehicle traffic due to a mechanical issue.
DOTD bridge maintenance crews are on site assessing the issue and making repairs. At this time, there is no estimated reopening time.
Motorists should use LA 57 as an alternate route. Motorists traveling south from the Houma area should detour to LA 57 south. Northbound motorists should use LA 56 to LA 57 north.
The existing Boudreaux Canal Bridge was built in 1959. DOTD is also advancing a separate project to replace the bridge, with that project currently scheduled to be let later this year.
DOTD will provide additional information on the current closure as it becomes available.
Motorists are encouraged to monitor 511la.org, MyDOTD alerts and DOTD’s official social media channels for updates.
