UPDATE – REOPENED: LA 540 bridge in Homer, Claiborne Parish
HOMER, La. – The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development announces that the LA 540 bridge over an unnamed waterway in the Town of Homer in Claiborne Parish has been reopened to traffic following its replacement with box culverts.
The $703,278 project involved the removal of the old bridge, which was built in 1958, and replacement with box culverts to ensure continued water flow and drainage through the area.
Other work included new asphalt roadway tie-ins, base course, guardrail installation, permanent roadway striping, and other related tasks.
This bridge is located immediately west of US 79 (W. Main St), between Zimmerman and W. 4th Streets.
Investment in bridge replacement projects ensures continued connectivity, which is a vital component of a successful and thriving community.
DOTD appreciates the patience of the traveling public while construction on this project was underway. No further road/lane closures are anticipated.
