DOTD to adjust speed limit on section of US 167 (Pineville Expressway), Rapides Parish
PINEVILLE, La. – The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development will be making an adjustment to the posted speed limit on a portion of the US 167 (Pineville Expressway) in the Pineville area of Rapides Parish.
Beginning Tuesday, July 7, 2026, DOTD Statewide crews will begin the process of changing out speed limit signs on the US 167 Expressway between I-49 in Alexandria to just north of the LA 28 East interchange. The posted speed limit along this section of US 167 will change from 50 mph to 60 mph.
This change comes as a result of a study to determine whether the existing speed limit along this stretch of US 167 was appropriate. The results of the study indicate that increasing the posted speed limit will be more aligned with driver expectancy and should reduce variations in vehicle speed potentially improving traffic flow.
The goal of increasing the speed limit is to help establish uniformity among motorists’ speed, which can also serve to decrease the risk of crashes.
Drivers are urged to be aware of the change, and drive with caution as motorists adjust to the new speed limit.
