UPDATE - REOPENED: LA 2 at the UP railroad crossing, Plain Dealing, Bossier Parish
(UPDATE 6/30/2026 7:00PM):DOTD advises motorists that LA 2 in Plain Dealing, north Bossier Parish has been reopened to traffic.
Please note that crews will be on site the morning of Wednesday, July 1, 2026 to complete paving the railroad crossing to ensure a smooth transition. This will require only intermittent lane closures.
Drivers are urged to use caution through the work zone.

Original notification - 6/30/2026:
The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development advises motorists that an emergency road closure is currently in place on LA 2 (E. Mary Lee Ave.) in Plain Dealing, north Bossier Parish at the Union Pacific railroad crossing.
This closure is anticipated to be in place until approximately 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, and is necessary to allow UP crews to perform emergency maintenance work on the tracks.
This crossing is located approx. 0.2 miles east of LA 3.
Restrictions/Permits: Total road closure at the specified location.
Alternate Route: Detour signage in place.

DOTD appreciates your patience and reminds you to please drive with caution through the construction site and be on the lookout for work crews and their equipment. Remember to leave plenty of room between you and the vehicle in front of you.
Area residents should exercise caution when driving, walking, or biking near an active construction zone.
