The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) advises the public that, weather permitting, alternating lane closures will begin on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, at 9:00 AM at the following locations:
US 167 (Expressway) northbound near Melrose Street LA 28 westbound near US 167 (Expressway) US 167 (Expressway) northbound near US 165
In addition, motorists should expect a shoulder closure on the US 167 (Expressway) northbound off-ramp to Edgewood Drive.
These closures are necessary to allow crews to install Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) infrastructure along the US 167 Expressway corridor. The work will enhance the Department's ability to monitor traffic conditions and improve transportation system operations.
Motorists are encouraged to use caution when traveling through the work zones, observe all traffic control devices, and allow additional travel time as intermittent delays may occur.
Construction associated with this work is anticipated to be completed by July 11, 2026. All work is weather dependent and subject to change based on field conditions or other factors that may affect the construction schedule. DOTD appreciates the public's patience and cooperation during these improvements.
The contract was awarded to Grady Crawford Construction Co., Inc. in the amount of $ 2,195,805.53.
Permit/Detour section There is a 12 foot wide lane width restriction associated with these lane closures. There are no detours associated with this project.
Safety Reminder All construction activity is weather-dependent and may be rescheduled in the event of inclement weather. DOTD appreciates the motoring public’s patience and reminds drivers to please exercise caution when traveling through work zone areas and be on the lookout for work crews and their equipment.
