Lafayette Parish - Interstate 49 - Alternating Lane Closures and Ramp Closures

LAFAYETTE/ST. LANDRY PARISH, LA - Motorists are advised of the next round of alternating lane closures as part of the $43 million resurfacing project.

These closures are necessary to complete milling, saw cutting, and concrete pouring operations and will take place during overnight and weekend hours to minimize traffic disruptions.

Southbound I-49 – Milling and Paving Operations
Alternating lane closures will occur on the I-49 southbound mainline during the following dates and times:

  • Saturday, June 27: 7:00 p.m. – 10:00 a.m.
  • Sunday, June 28 – 7:00 p.m. – 5:00 a.m.
  • Monday, June 29: 7:00 p.m. – 5:00 a.m.
  • Tuesday, June 30: 7:00 p.m. – 5:00 a.m.
  • Wednesday, July 1: 7:00 p.m. – 5:00 a.m.

I-49 Shoulder Patching Operations
Alternating shoulder closures will occur on the I-49 southbound and northbound mainline during the following dates and times:

  • Thursday, July 2: 7:00 p.m. – 7:00 a.m.

Northbound I-49 Patching Operations
Alternating lane closures will also be in place for saw cutting operations on the I-49 northbound mainline, starting at Gloria Switch, during the following dates and times:

  • Saturday, June 27: 10:00 p.m. – 11:00 a.m.
  • Sunday, June 28 – 7:00 p.m. – 7:00 a.m.

Southbound I-49 – Joint Sealing & Saw Cutting Operations
Alternating lane closures will also be in place for joint sealing and saw cutting operations from Carencro on the I-49 southbound mainline starting during the following dates and times:

  • Monday, June 29: 7:00 p.m. – 5:00 a.m.
  • Tuesday, June 30: 7:00 p.m. – 5:00 a.m.
  • Wednesday, July 1 – 7:00 p.m. – 5:00 a.m.
  • Thursday, July 2: 7:00 p.m. – 6:00 a.m.

Ramp Closures
Ramp closures will also be in place for saw cutting and patching operations during the following dates and times:

I-49 Southbound I-10 W to Lake Charles exit ramp (Exit 1B) and US 90/I-49 S ramp (Exit 103A)

  • Tuesday, June 30: 7:00 p.m. – 5:00 a.m.
  • Wednesday, July 1: 7:00 p.m. – 5:00 a.m.
  • Thursday, July 2: 7:00 p.m. – 6:00 a.m.

I-49 Northbound Gloria Switch Exit Ramp (Exit 4) and Gloria Switch On Ramp

  • Saturday, June 27: 10:00 p.m. – 11:00 a.m.
  • Sunday, June 28: 7:00 p.m. – 7:00 a.m.

All work is weather permitting and subject to change.

Motorists should expect delays, exercise caution in work zones, and consider alternate routes when possible. Crews will work to complete operations as efficiently and safely as possible.

For the safety of workers and drivers, please reduce speed and remain alert when traveling through construction areas.
