UPDATE - LANE CLOSURE: I-20 eastbound over Mississippi River, Madison Parish
(UPDATE 08/03/2026): Construction continues on this project. (UPDATE 7/2/2026): DOTD advises motorists that for the below referenced lane closures, beginning on Saturday, July 11, 2026, there will be an 11 foot width restriction that will remain in place for approximately 6 weeks.
Vehicles wider than 11 feet will need to utilize an alternate route (oversized loads).
This is necessary to allow for the safe and efficient repair of the finger joints on the I-20 bridge over the Mississippi River from Madison Parish into Vicksburg, MS. Finger joints allow a bridge to safely expand and contract, while still providing a continuous, smooth surface for drivers.
Once work is complete in the eastbound direction, the contractor will move to the westbound side. An update will be issued when that occurs.
All work on the project is anticipated to wrap up in October 2026, weather permitting. ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
