The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD), advises the public that on Monday, June 29, 2026 construction will begin on LA 1 in Natchitoches Parish. This work will take place between LA 1’s intersection with LA 493 and LA 1’s intersection with LA 494.
The intent of this project is to patch, mill, and overlay LA 1 with hot mixed asphalt. The work associated with this project includes full depth asphalt patching, milling asphalt pavement, installing a reinforced paving mat, overlaying the paving mat with hot mixed asphalt, chip sealed shoulders, and other related work.
The project was awarded to the low bidder, Gilchrist Construction Co., LLC. of Alexandria, LA in the amount of $2,965,434.60. The work associated with this project should take approximately 85 working days to complete.
Permit/Detour section
Thru traffic will be maintained at all times with oversize and emergency vehicles allowed passage, but periodic lane closures and delays can be expected. The public is advised to remain alert to construction signs and changing roadway conditions. There will be no detour routes for this project.
