DOTD provides update on US 190 roadway improvement project in St. Tammany Parish
Thursday, June 25, 2026 at 3:58:01 PM
Lacombe, La. – The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) provides the following update on the ongoing $4 million roadway improvement project along US 190 between LA 434 and LA 433 in St. Tammany Parish.

The current project remains active, with crews continuing remaining work items following recent patching, milling, overlay, and shoulder-related work along the corridor.

Permanent striping is scheduled to begin Monday, June 29, 2026, weather permitting.

The project covers approximately 6.2 miles of US 190 through the Lacombe area. US 190 serves as a major secondary east-west corridor to I-12 in St. Tammany Parish, carrying approximately 10,000 vehicles per day. The route supports residents, commuters, local businesses, school traffic, emergency responders, and visitors traveling to nearby neighborhoods, recreational areas, and Northshore destinations.

The US 190: LA 434-LA 433 project is part of the Louisiana Transportation Infrastructure Fund (LTIF) 2.0, a state-funded program that directs $249 million toward highway preservation projects for the 2025-2026 period, following an initial $285 million in LTIF 1.0. The program funds critical maintenance and preservation projects to enhance infrastructure safety and reliability across Louisiana.

This project also builds on recent US 190 corridor improvements in St. Tammany Parish. In May 2023, DOTD completed a $3.1 million, 3.49-mile overlay project connecting LA 433 to US 11 in Slidell. Together, these improvements support a smoother, more reliable US 190 corridor between Slidell and Lacombe.

The project is expected to be completed in summer 2026, weather permitting.

Scope of Remaining Work:

• Permanent pavement striping
• Additional asphalt work at select driveways and turn-ins
• Shoulder dressing and related cleanup items
• Final project completion activities

Travel Impacts:

Motorists should continue to expect intermittent lane closures and work crews along US 190 between LA 433 and LA 434 as remaining work continues.

Drivers are encouraged to use caution, reduce speeds, and remain alert for construction personnel and equipment in the work zone.

DOTD appreciates the public’s patience as this project continues to improve roadway conditions and extend the service life of US 190 in St. Tammany Parish.
