H.015603 – I-10 & LA 641 – St. James Parish

Construction is underway for State Project H.015603, LA 641: Bridge Over I-10. This project is 0.300 miles in St. James Parish. The type of work includes structural concrete girder patching, carbon fiber reinforced polymer girder repairs, and related work at a cost of $99,331.00.
The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development is notifying motorists of this active construction zone on LA 641 and I-10 within St. James Parish. Beginning Monday night, July 6th, 2026, repairs on bridge girders will be underway on the LA641 bridge over I-10. Westbound I-10 at LA 641 will have a full closure from 8:00PM to 5:00AM Monday - Friday nights; traffic will be diverted around the closure utilizing the LA 641 off and on ramps. Additionally, LA 641 northbound and southbound will be closed between both I-10 ramps during these times. These closures are scheduled nightly through Friday, August 7th, 2026.
Motorists should utilize the following detours:
I-10 Westbound: Traffic will be diverted at the Exit 194 off ramp and back onto the I-10 on ramp to by-pass the work zone. No left turn onto LA 641 will be allowed during this closure. Motorist needing to access LA 641 from I-10 Westbound should use Exit 206 in Laplace. Take LA 3188 to US 61. Take a right onto US 61 Northbound and continue to LA 641. Take a right onto LA 641 to complete the detour.
LA 641 Northbound: Motorists will be unable to access I-10 Westbound from LA 641. Motorist however will be able to access I-10 Eastbound from LA 641 Northbound. Motorist needing to access I-10 Westbound from LA 641 should continue on US 61 Northbound from the LA 641/US 61 intersection. At the US 61 and I-10 interchange, motorists should exit US 61 at the I-10 (to Baton Rouge) Exit.
These lane closures are required to repair the damaged LA 641 bridge over I-10 Westbound in St. James Parish.
