DOTD urges motorists to use caution following overnight storms

New Orleans - The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development advises motorists in areas affected by overnight storms and power outages to use caution while traveling.
Power interruptions may affect traffic signals in some areas. Motorists approaching an intersection where the traffic signal is not operating should treat the intersection as a four-way stop and proceed only when it is safe to do so.
Drivers should reduce their speed, remain alert for roadway debris, standing water, work crews, and changing traffic conditions, and allow additional time for travel.
DOTD crews are monitoring state routes and responding to reported issues as conditions allow.
