The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD), advises the public that on Monday, June 8, 2026, Merrick LLC will begin clearing operations on LA 124 in Winn Parish. This work will take place on LA 124 beginning 1.7 Miles east of its intersection with US 84 and include 4 bridge sites along LA 124.
The intent of this project is to remove and replace bridges on LA 124 over Big Branch, Sandy Creek, Godfrey Creek, and Beech Creek. This work will include clearing and grubbing, relocation of utilities, removal of existing bridges, construction of 4 new slab span bridges, and all associated work. At this time, the contractor will be moving in to clear all bridge sites to allow utility relocation to commence. Subsequent press releases will be made to notify interested parties of bridge closures and detours.
The project was awarded to the low bidder, Merrick, LLC of Cottonport, LA in the amount of $10,330,565.30. The work associated with this project should take approximately 805 calendar days to complete.
Permit/Detour section
Thru traffic will be maintained during this phase of the work, with oversize and emergency vehicles allowed passage, but periodic lane closures and delays can be expected. The public is advised to remain alert to construction signs and changing roadway conditions. There is currently no detour route for this project.
