Update: This release has been updated to correct the project funding source and to reflect the current anticipated construction start date.
Plaquemines Parish, La. - The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) announces that construction is expected to begin by the end of June, weather permitting, on a new roundabout at the intersection of LA 406 and F. Edward Hebert Boulevard in Plaquemines Parish.
The $3.2 million project will improve traffic flow, reduce congestion, and enhance traffic operations and safety for motorists traveling through the area. Construction is currently expected to be complete during the second quarter of 2027.
The contractor is currently in the assembly period, which allows time to gather materials, schedule crews, and prepare for construction activities.
The project is funded through the federal Urban Systems program, with funds provided through the New Orleans Metropolitan Planning Organization.
The LA 406 roundabout is part of a broader slate of DOTD work advancing in Plaquemines Parish, including roadway preservation, drainage, ferry landing, and bridge-related improvements. These investments are intended to support safer, more reliable travel and improve access for residents, businesses, and industry throughout the parish.
Additional information regarding traffic impacts, lane closures, and construction schedules will be announced through DOTD’s MyDOTD notification system as work progresses.
DOTD appreciates the public’s patience as the department continues working to improve infrastructure and roadway safety throughout Plaquemines Parish.
