UPDATE: LA 452 drainage improvement project at Caldwell Street, Avoyelles Parish The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) advises motorists that beginning on Monday, June 8, 2026 at 7:00 a.m., LA 452 (Preston Street) will be closed at its intersection with Caldwell Street near Bernard’s Crawfish Pad in Marksville, Avoyelles Parish.
This closure is necessary for the installation of drainage structures as part of the ongoing $856,628 project to significantly improve drainage along this section of LA 452. The closure is anticipated to be in place for approx. 4-5 weeks.
The entire project is expected to be complete in July 2026, with progress dependent on weather conditions and other factors that can impact construction timelines.
Other work on the project includes clearing and grubbing, drainage structures, milling asphalt concrete, pavement patching, asphalt concrete, and related work.
Permit/Detour section: The detour is as follows:
East bound traffic will travel west on LA 452 to the intersection of LA 1. From there, proceed north on LA 1 to the intersection of LA 1192. Next, proceed east on LA 1192 to the intersection of LA 107. From there, proceed south on LA 107 to the intersection of LA 1190. Next, proceed east on LA 1190 to the intersection of LA 452.
West bound traffic will travel east on LA 452 to the intersection of LA 1190. From there, proceed west on LA 1190 to the intersection of LA 107. Next, proceed north on LA 107 to the intersection of LA 1192. From there, proceed west on LA 1192 to the intersection of LA 1. Next, proceed south on LA 1 to the intersection of LA 452.
The detour route will be identified with proper construction signage.
