New Orleans, La. – The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) reminds motorists that I-610 will be fully closed in both directions this weekend as part of an ongoing $9.5 million roadway improvement project in Orleans Parish.

The full closure of I-610 eastbound and westbound, including ramps, is scheduled to begin at 11 p.m. Friday, May 29, and continue through 5 a.m. Monday, June 1, weather permitting.

The closure will allow crews to safely perform concrete patching and asphalt paving operations along I-610 between I-10 near the 17th Street Canal and I-10 near Franklin Avenue.

During the closure, motorists should use I-10 eastbound and westbound as the primary alternate route. Detour signage will direct drivers to the alternate route.

This work is part of a larger roadway improvement project that includes concrete patching, asphalt paving, and related roadway rehabilitation work designed to improve roadway conditions and extend the service life of the I-610 corridor.
