DOTD announces reopening of Chalmette Ferry (St. Bernard Parish)

Chalmette, La. – The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) announces that the Chalmette Ferry will resume normal operations on Saturday, May 23, 2026, beginning at 6 a.m.
Ferry service was temporarily suspended to allow crews to complete necessary bridge repairs at the Chalmette landing. Repairs have now been completed and the ferry will return to its normal operating schedule.
DOTD appreciates the patience of ferry users and surrounding communities during the temporary service interruption.
