UPDATE: Black Bayou Pontoon Bridge is under normal operations through Monday, May 25, 2026.
(previous announcement) Calcasieu Parish -- The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development has announced the Black Bayou Bridge is under a modified operating schedule due to severe weather causing damage to an electrical component.
The bridge will operate under the following schedule:
Wednesday, May 20, 2026
- 7 am – 7 pm Open to vehicle/closed to marine
- 7 pm – 12 am Closed to vehicle/open to marine
Thursday May 21, 2026
- 12 am – 7 am Closed to vehicle/open to marine
- 7 am – 12 pm Open to vehicle/closed to marine
- 12 pm – 12 am Closed to vehicle/open to marine
Friday, May 22, 2026
- 12 am – 12 pm Closed to vehicle/open to marine
- 12 pm Return to normal operation (if bridge repairs are completed)
While this schedule is in effect, motorists must use the Grand Lake Bridge while Black Bayou Bridge is open to marine traffic. Motorists should expect delays at Grand Lake Bridge.
Safety reminder: DOTD appreciates your patience and reminds you to please drive with caution through the construction site and be on the lookout for work crews and their equipment. Area residents should exercise caution when driving, walking, or biking near an active construction zone.
