***UPDATE***Temporary Schedule Change at Black Bayou Pontoon Bridge and Grand Lake Pontoon Bridge

The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development has announced that the United States Army Corps of Engineers will perform significant repairs to the Calcasieu Lock, beginning Monday, May 18, 2026 and continuing through Saturday, October 31, 2026. To accomplish this work, the lock will be closed to marine traffic on Mondays - Fridays during daytime hours (weather permitting). Calcasieu Lock will operate business as usual on nights and weekends.

Due to the revised operating schedule at Calcasieu Lock, DOTD will implement the following temporary schedules at the Black Bayou and Grand Lake Pontoon Bridges on LA 384:

BLACK BAYOU PONTOON BRIDGE

OPEN to Vehicle
• Mondays – from 10:00 am (approximately) until 7:00 pm
• Tuesdays – from 7:00 am until 7:00 pm
• Wednesdays – from 7:00 am until 7:00 pm
• Thursdays – from 7:00 am until 7:00 pm
• Fridays – from 7:00 am until 12:00 pm (approximately)

CLOSED to Vehicle
• Fridays from 12:00 pm (approximately) until marine traffic queues are cleared

NORMAL OPERATIONS (opens to marine on signal)
• Nights and Weekends

Be advised that the approximate times on Mondays and Fridays may vary based on personnel availability and the marine traffic queue.

GRAND LAKE PONTOON BRIDGE

OPEN to Vehicle
• Mondays - Thursdays from 7:00 pm until 9:00 pm
• The bridge will be in NORMAL OPERATIONS (opens to marine on signal) at all other times.

Motorists should expect lengthy delays at both bridges on nights and weekends due to the increased volume of marine traffic. DOTD will coordinate with USACE throughout the repairs to make changes to the operational requirements, if necessary.
