PROJECT UPDATE: LA 3227 realignment project @ LA 157 Phase 2, Haughton, Bossier Parish HAUGHTON – The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development announces that traffic has been swapped over to the newly constructed section of LA 3227 in Haughton, Bossier Parish. This is part of the ongoing $7 million LA 3227 realignment project Phase 2.
Access to the businesses located along LA 3227 will now be from the new section of roadway.
The new intersection of LA 3227 at LA 157 (at the south end of the Pilot Travel Center) now has an operational traffic signal in place. The previous traffic signal at the old LA 3227/LA 157 intersection has been turned off.
The previous LA 3227/LA 157 intersection is now a right-in/right-out only, and is permanently closed to through traffic.
Additionally, northbound motorists on LA 157 wishing to access the Pilot Travel Center will need to do so via the new signalized intersection. There will be no northbound left turns permitted into the north driveway of the Pilot at this time.
A short connector road between Sonic & the restaurant strip center will also provide access to the new LA 3227.
As a reminder, the purpose of both Phase 1 (which included the widening of LA 157) and Phase 2 is to support economic development in the growing Haughton community, as well as improve congestion and traffic flow through the intersection.
All work on the project is anticipated to wrap up in mid-June 2026, weather and other factors permitting.
This project is made possible by funding allocated from the Louisiana Transportation Infrastructure Fund (LTIF 1.0) of the 2024 Regular Legislative Session.
