IBERIA PARISH, LA – The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD), in coordination with Iberia Parish Government and the Acadiana Planning Commission, announces that construction is now underway on a $4,969,674.25 roundabout project at the intersection of LA 675, the US 90 westbound frontage road, and Airport Road.

This project is being delivered as a Local Public Agency (LPA) project through DOTD in coordination with Iberia Parish Government and the Acadiana Planning Commission (APC). Funding for the project is a joint investment, combining federal funds with contributions from Iberia Parish Government and the Acadiana MPO.

The project consists of constructing a modern roundabout to improve connectivity and traffic flow between LA 675, the US 90 westbound frontage road, and Airport Road. Work associated with the construction includes Portland Cement Concrete Pavement, subgrade treatment, Class II base course, asphalt concrete, drainage structures, and related improvements.

“This project represents a strong partnership between state, local, and regional stakeholders to deliver a safer and more efficient transportation solution,” said Louisiana DOTD Acadiana District Administrator Brent Domingue. “The roundabout brings meaningful improvements to a key corridor that serves both the traveling public and the region’s economic drivers.”

The new roundabout is expected to provide significant safety and operational benefits by reducing conflict points, lowering vehicle speeds, and minimizing the severity of crashes compared to a traditional intersection. It will also enhance traffic efficiency and reduce delays for motorists traveling through this growing corridor.

Given its proximity to surrounding industrial and commercial developments, the project is a critical infrastructure improvement for the region. The roundabout will support more reliable access for airport traffic, freight movement, and local businesses, while helping accommodate current and future economic growth in Iberia Parish.

“Iberia Parish is proud to partner on this important infrastructure investment that will improve safety and accessibility for our residents and businesses,” said Iberia Parish President Larry Richard. “This project not only addresses current traffic needs but also positions our parish for continued growth, particularly with the economic activity surrounding the airport and nearby industries.”

“The Acadiana Planning Commission is committed to supporting projects that enhance regional mobility and strengthen economic opportunity,” said APC CEO Sara Gary. “This roundabout is a great example of how coordinated planning and shared funding can deliver long-term benefits, improving traffic flow while supporting key assets like the Acadiana Regional Airport.”

Work is expected to take place Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., weather permitting.

There will be alternating lane closures throughout the project, along with periodic road closures that will be announced in subsequent press releases.

Emergency vehicles will have access to the area but may encounter minor delays.

The project is estimated to be completed by May 2027.

DOTD appreciates the public’s patience and reminds motorists to drive with caution through the construction zone and remain alert for work crews and equipment.
