La 472: Indian and Big Bear Creek Bridges

The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD), advises the public that on Monday, May 4, 2026, construction will begin on LA 472 in Grant Parish. This work will take place at the bridge locations over Big Bear Creek and Indian Creek.
The intent of this project is remove and replace the existing bridges over Indian Creek and Big Bear Creek. In addition, the scope of work will include asphalt concrete and base course on both sides of each bridge.
The project was awarded to the low bidder, Merrick, LLC., in the amount of $4,295,638.70. The work associated with this project should take approximately 280 working days to complete.
Permit/Detour section
No traffic will be allowed passage while under construction. The northbound detour route for this project will be via US 167 north to La 500 then east to La 472. The southbound detour will be via La 500 west to US 167 then south along US 167 to La 472.
