DOTD Announces Early Reopening of Bluff Road in Ascension Parish

BATON ROUGE, La. – The Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) announces that LA 928 (Bluff Road) in Ascension Parish will reopen to traffic tonight, April 17, 2026, by 8 p.m., approximately three weeks ahead of schedule.
The emergency closure included the removal of old, deteriorating box culverts beneath the roadway and the installation of 35 new box culverts. Crews also raised the roadway approximately 21 inches to help reduce future flooding in the area.
Additional work, including the installation of rumple strips and permanent striping, remains and will be completed at a later date.
Completing the project ahead of schedule reflects DOTD’s commitment to improving infrastructure through a more efficient and transparent approach under its T4LA initiative.
DOTD thanks motorists, residents, and the crews who worked nonstop to complete the project and reopen the road.
