Pedestrian improvement project for McMillan Rd. in Ouachita Parish to begin

WEST MONROE – The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development advises motorists that an $813,720 project to provide improvements to McMillan Rd. in West Monroe for pedestrians and other road users is scheduled to begin on Monday, April 27, 2026.

The project includes the construction of sidewalks and ramps from Hilton St. to Su Quak Natch Ah Street, along with clearing and grubbing, installation of drainage structures, roadway striping & signage, and related work.

Starting on April 27th, McMillan Rd. from Hines Lane to Fairview Street will be closed to through traffic. Residents who live on McMillan Rd. in this area will be able to access their homes via Fairview Street.

This road closure is necessary to allow the contractor for the project to construct a retaining wall along McMillan Rd, and is anticipated to be in place for two (2) weeks.

Through traffic will be detoured using Hines Lane, Cypress St., and Fairview St.

The entire project is anticipated to be complete in late Summer 2026, weather and other factors permitting.

McMillan Rd. is owned and maintained by the City of West Monroe. This project is made possible by federal funding secured by the city for these improvements to their infrastructure.
