Grand Ecore Bridge Project Update
Friday, August 27, 2010 at 1:22:17 PM

On the morning of August 25, 2010, crews completed pouring and finishing the fifth and final section of the Grand Ecore Bridge’s westbound main span concrete deck.   This portion of the work took almost a month to complete as the five sections of the main span had to be completed in a specific sequence and the contractor could only close the bridge during certain days of the week. .  However, now that the main span has been completed, the contractor will be able to move much faster on the approach sections of the westbound side of the bridge.

In addition to pouring concrete on the main span of the bridge, the crews have been working hard to complete the installation of the new stringers on the westbound side of the bridge and to finish the formwork on the westbound approach spans in preparation for the next concrete pour.  During the next night closure, which has not yet been scheduled, the contractor will make a significant pour on the sections of the approach span that is currently being worked on.
