BOGALUSA, La. – The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) announces that the LA 60 Drain Bridge in Bogalusa has reopened to traffic as of April 8, 2026, following an emergency replacement project.
The bridge was closed in October after an inspection identified structural deficiencies requiring immediate action. Due to the critical nature of the route and its importance to local traffic and industry, DOTD moved to expedite the response and designate the project as an emergency, allowing work to proceed without the standard procurement timeline and enabling crews to restore access as quickly as possible.
LA 60 serves as a vital corridor for local residents and commercial traffic, including access to the International Paper Mill in Bogalusa. During the closure, motorists faced a detour of approximately 26 miles.
“Timely response in situations like this is critical, and we are committed to delivering solutions that restore safe and reliable travel for the public,” said DOTD District 62 Administrator Dalton Williams.
Motorists are advised to continue driving with caution in the area while any remaining minor work is completed.
