PROJECT UPDATE: LA 3227 Realignment @ LA 157 Phase 2, Bossier Parish HAUGHTON – The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development provided an update today on the project to construct a new section of LA 3227 to realign the roadway with LA 157 (Phase 2) in Haughton, Bossier Parish.
The contractor has made significant progress on the Phase 2 project since it began in June 2025 following the completion of Phase 1, which widened LA 157 on the south side of the LA 3227 intersection.
Current work involves building the short connector road that will allow access between the existing LA 3227 near the Waffle House and other businesses and the new section of LA 3227. It’s important to note that through traffic on the existing LA 3227 will be permanently restricted.
Completed work includes the construction of the brand new stretch of LA 3227 to connect with LA 157 at the south entrance to the Pilot Travel Center, extensive drainage improvements, and installation of the traffic signal at the new LA 3227/LA 157 intersection, among other tasks.
Once the new segment of LA 3227 is ready to be opened to traffic, the existing traffic signal will be removed and the new traffic signal will be made operational. Additionally, a privately-owned roadway has been built to provide access to the Pilot center on the southern end, as well as access to future developments.
The overall purpose of both Phase 1 & 2 is to help support the continued economic development of the growing Haughton community, as well as enhance traffic flow and relieve congestion.
The entire project is anticipated to wrap up in mid-May 2026, with progress dependent on weather conditions and other factors that can impact construction timelines.
