BATON ROUGE, La. – The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD), on behalf of the Office of Louisiana Highway Construction (OLHC), announces the closure of the LA 76 bridge over Bayou Chalpin beginning Monday, April 6.
The closure is necessary to allow for the complete replacement of the existing bridge structure. Construction is anticipated to be complete in summer 2027, weather permitting.
This project is part of the state’s Bridge Bundling Program, an initiative established through Act 2 of the 2025 Regular Legislative Session to accelerate the replacement and rehabilitation of multiple bridges across Louisiana through innovative project delivery methods.
Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead, allow extra travel time, and follow all posted signage while traveling through the area.
Detour Information:
Motorists traveling eastbound on LA 76 will be detoured by turning left onto LA 411 (Sidney Road), continuing along LA 411, then turning right onto US 190 eastbound. From US 190, motorists will turn right onto LA 413 and continue south to reconnect with LA 76.
Motorists traveling westbound on LA 76 will turn right onto LA 413 and proceed north to US 190. Motorists will then turn left onto US 190 westbound, continue to LA 411 (Sidney Road), turn left, and follow LA 411 back to LA 76.
