ST. MARTIN PARISH, LA - The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) announces that construction will begin Monday, March 30, 2026, on a $1.05 million roadway improvement project along the I-10 Atchafalaya Basin Bridge in St. Martin Parish.
The project will include the installation of new pavement striping and related roadway improvements along I-10 from mile marker 117.4 to mile marker 126.7. This work is part of DOTD’s ongoing efforts to enhance roadway safety and visibility for motorists traveling through the corridor.
Construction activities are scheduled to occur Monday through Saturday from 8:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m., weather permitting.
To facilitate the work, intermittent alternating lane closures will be in place on both eastbound and westbound I-10. Motorists should expect delays and are encouraged to plan travel accordingly.
Emergency vehicles will be allowed access through the work zone at all times.
While the roadway will remain open to regular traffic, a 12-foot lane width restriction will be enforced for oversized loads traveling through the construction area during active work hours.
The project is anticipated to be completed in May 2026, weather permitting.
DOTD appreciates the public’s patience and cooperation and urges all drivers to exercise caution, remain alert, and watch for construction crews and equipment while traveling through the work zone.
