Reminder: Weekend Lane Closures on Huey P. Long Bridge Begin Friday Night (Jefferson Parish)
Thursday, April 9, 2026 at 2:46:08 PM

METAIRIE, La. — The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) reminds motorists of upcoming weekend lane closures on the eastbound (eastbank-bound) US90/Huey P. Long Bridge to allow crews to continue finger joint repairs.

Continuous double right-lane closures will be in effect on the eastbound side of the bridge from 10:00 p.m. Friday, April 10, through 5:00 a.m. Monday, April 13. The Huey P. Long Bridge has three lanes in each direction, and one lane will remain open to traffic at all times during this work.

Westbound traffic will not be affected.

This work is part of an ongoing project to repair steel expansion finger joints, which help the bridge safely expand and contract with changes in temperature and traffic. These repairs are necessary to maintain a safe driving surface and extend the life of the structure.

Motorists should expect delays and are encouraged to plan ahead, allow extra travel time, and use caution when traveling through the area.

All work is weather permitting.
