Friday, March 20, 2026 at 9:51:12 AM
LAFAYETTE PARISH, LA -The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) announces a significant milestone in the ongoing Ambassador Caffery Interchange project, as contractors prepare to shift southbound traffic onto the newly constructed Ambassador Caffery overpass.

Beginning at 8:00 p.m. on Friday, March 20, 2026, and continuing until 6:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 21, 2026, US 90 southbound from Albertson Parkway to LA 92-1 (Young Street) will experience alternating lane closures. These temporary closures are necessary to allow crews to complete roadway striping and safely transition southbound traffic onto the new mainline bridge.

This shift represents the second major milestone for the project. The first occurred on March 5, 2026, when traffic was successfully moved onto the newly constructed northbound structure. Together, these milestones mark substantial progress toward improving traffic flow and modernizing infrastructure along this critical corridor.

Key Information:
  • Closure Type: Alternating lane closures
  • Location: US 90 southbound from Albertson Parkway to LA 92-1 (Young St.)
  • Timeframe: 8:00 p.m. Friday, March 20 through 6:00 a.m. Saturday, March 21
  • Purpose: Restriping and traffic shift of southbound traffic to the new overpass
  • Detours: None required
  • Emergency Access: Maintained at all times

DOTD reminds motorists to exercise caution while traveling through the work zone and to remain alert for construction crews and equipment.
