EAST FELICIANA PARISH, La. – The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) is providing a project update on the LA 63 Bluff Creek Bridge Replacement Project in East Feliciana Parish. Work continues at multiple construction sites as crews replace several aging bridge structures along the corridor.

Site 1: Construction is complete and open to traffic.

Site 2A: Includes two bridges with a temporary detour road in place. All deck work is completed, and the final bridge approaches have been poured. The contractor is working on installing barrier rails, followed by base and roadway construction.

Site 2B: Bridge decks have been poured, and the contractor is currently working on roadway approaches. Base and roadway construction will follow.

Site 3: A temporary detour road is currently open to traffic. Piles have been driven and bridge caps have been poured. The contractor is placing riprap and has begun deck construction.

Site 4: The new bridge is complete; however, the location remains closed to traffic while crews tie the roadway into the new structure. The existing bridge previously served as the detour during construction. The contractor has begun cutting cement in the subgrade and placing asphalt base and binder and wearing courses. Once this is complete, the existing bridge will be removed. This site is estimated to reopen to traffic in May.

Once Site 4 has reopened, no additional closures are anticipated for the remainder of the project. The project is expected to be completed by early 2027.

Safety Reminder:
DOTD appreciates your patience and reminds you to please drive with caution through the construction site and be on the lookout for work crews and their equipment. Remember to leave plenty of room between you and the vehicle in front of you.
Area residents should exercise caution when driving, walking, or biking near an active construction zone.
