DOTD announces project to replace the Monroe Fabre bridge over Bayou Des Glaises, Avoyelles Parish


The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD), advises the public that, weather permitting, on Wednesday, March 18, 2026 at 7:00am, Monroe Fabre Bridge (Big Bend Road) over Bayou Des Glaises in Avoyelles Parish will be closed to all traffic for removal and replacement.

This construction project consists of removal of timber bridge, grading, class II base course, steel sheeting, asphalt concrete, precast concrete piles, precast concrete slab span bridge, and related work.

Construction is expected to be completed by September 2026, with progress dependent on weather conditions and other factors that impact construction timelines.

This contract was awarded to Diamond B. Construction Co., L.L.C. in the amount of $1,843,288.25.

This bridge is owned and maintained by the Avoyelles Parish Police Jury, and is located approximately 3.7 miles east of Pete Laborde Road.
