ACADIA PARISH, La. — The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) announces that construction will begin Monday, March 16, 2026, on a $6.8 million roadway preservation project along LA 365 in Acadia Parish. The project will improve a 3.74-mile stretch of highway between LA 1098 and LA 98, enhancing safety, ride quality, and long-term reliability for motorists traveling through the corridor.

The work will focus on rehabilitating and strengthening the existing roadway infrastructure to extend the life of the highway and provide a smoother, more durable driving surface. Improvements will include earthwork, drainage structures, lime treatment, in-place cement-treated subgrade, in-place cement-treated base course, pavement patching, milling of the existing asphalt pavement, installation of fiberglass reinforced paving mat, and an asphalt concrete overlay, along with other related construction activities.

This investment represents a significant step in maintaining and improving transportation infrastructure in Acadia Parish. Once complete, the project will provide motorists with a safer, smoother roadway while helping to preserve a key regional route that supports daily travel, local commerce, and emergency services throughout the area.

Construction is expected to take place Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., weather permitting.

Traffic Impacts
Intermittent lane closures will be required during construction, and motorists should expect occasional delays. The roadway will remain open to regular traffic; however, oversized loads will be subject to a 13-foot maximum width restriction while passing through the work zone.

Emergency vehicles will maintain access through the area but may experience minor delays during active work periods.

The project is anticipated to be completed in Winter 2026.

DOTD appreciates the public’s patience as this important infrastructure improvement is completed and encourages motorists to drive cautiously through the work zone and remain alert for crews and equipment.
