***UPDATE***DOTD announces $5.75 million improvement project on LA 26 beginning March 9, 2026 – Jefferson Davis Parish

UPDATE: The projected end date for this project is October 2026.
Jefferson Davis Parish – The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development has announced that work on LA 26 from W. Racca Road to Trailer Town Road is set to begin Monday, March 9, 2026.
The project will consist of drainage work, patching, milling and overlay work.
Motorists can expect alternating lane closures on LA 26 Northbound and Southbound for the duration of the project. Closures will be in effect daily. A 12-foot width restriction will be in place for LA 26 Northbound and Southbound lanes throughout the project.
Lane closures are necessary for crews to perform patching and drainage work. Flaggers will be on site to manage traffic flow.
Prairie Contractors, LLC is the contractor for the project. This project is expected to be complete by October 2026, weather permitting.
