NEW ORLEANS – The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) is providing an update regarding the closure of the US 90 Chef Menteur Pass Bridge following a recent bridge inspection.

During further evaluation of the structure, additional areas requiring repair were identified. DOTD bridge maintenance crews are preparing for the necessary repairs and coordinating the installation of scaffolding to allow safe access to the affected portions of the bridge.

Repairs will include removing deteriorated steel and installing new structural steel components at several locations on the bridge. Steel components required for the repairs are currently being fabricated while crews prepare the work area.

At this time, DOTD estimates the repairs will take approximately six weeks to complete once scaffolding installation begins. Crews will also be working overtime as needed to complete the repairs as quickly and safely as possible.

DOTD understands the impact bridge closures have on the community and will continue to provide updates as additional information becomes available.
