DOTD announces upcoming roadway improvement project on US 190 in St. Tammany Parish

Lacombe, La. – The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) announces that construction will begin Sunday, March 8, 2026, on a $4 million roadway improvement project along US 190 between LA 434 and LA 433 in St. Tammany Parish.
Initial work will begin with nighttime patching operations along the corridor. As the project progresses, crews will perform milling and asphalt overlay operations designed to improve roadway conditions and extend the service life of the highway.
This project is part of the Louisiana Transportation Infrastructure Fund (LTIF) 2.0, a state-funded program that directs $249 million toward highway preservation projects for the 2025-2026 period, following an initial $285M in LTIF 1.0. It funds critical maintenance and projects to enhance infrastructure safety and reliability across Louisiana.
The project is estimated to be complete in late summer 2026, weather permitting.

Travel Impacts: Motorists should expect alternating lane closures on US 190 between LA 433 and LA 434 during construction activities. Nighttime lane closures are scheduled Sunday through Thursday from 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m., weather permitting.
One lane will remain open at all times. A pilot car and flaggers will be present to guide traffic safely through the work zone.
Drivers may encounter moderate delays and are encouraged to allow additional travel time. Emergency vehicles will have access through the work zone.
