DOTD announces upcoming $1.7M intersection improvement project in New Iberia

IBERIA PARISH, LA- The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) announces that beginning Monday, March 2, construction will begin on a $1,736,811.79 project at the intersection LA 14 (Center Street) and LA 674 (Admiral Doyle Drive).
The limits of construction consists of LA 14 from Hilliard Street to Delasalle Drive and on LA 674 from South Weeks Street to Delesalle Drive.
This intersection improvement project consists of the construction of a right turn lane on LA 14 Eastbound on to Admiral Doyle, milling asphalt pavement, pavement patching, asphalt concrete overlay, drainage structures, pavement markings, and related work.
Work is estimated to take place nightly from 7:30 P.M. to 6:30 A.M. Monday through Saturday. There will be day work periodically Monday through Friday from 6:30 A.M to 5:00 P.M.
Nightly lane closures are expected on both LA 14 and LA 674 from 7:30 P.M. to 6:30 A.M. All lanes will remain on both LA 14 and LA 674 from 6:30 A.M. to 7:30 P.M. Through traffic will be maintained on this project.
The road will be open to regular traffic with a 12-foot maximum lane restriction on oversized loads passing through the work zone during the nightly lane closures from 7:30 P.M. to 6:30 A.M.
Emergency vehicles will have access to this area but may encounter delays.
The project is estimated for completion by September 2026.
