FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

IBERIA PARISH, LA
– The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) announces that construction will begin Monday, March 2, on a $8,852,587.50 roadway improvement project along LA 83 from US 90 to Darnall Road in Iberia Parish. This project is funded in part through the Louisiana Transportation Infrastructure Fund (LTIF) program.

The project scope includes milling existing asphalt pavement, subgrade stabilization, base course stabilization, asphalt concrete overlay, pavement markings, and related improvements to enhance safety and extend the life of the roadway.

Construction activities are scheduled to take place Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Work will require alternating lane closures throughout the duration of the project. While the roadway will remain open to regular traffic, a 12-foot maximum lane width restriction will be in place through the work zone.

Emergency vehicles will be permitted access but may experience minor delays.

The project is anticipated to be completed by September 2026, weather permitting.

DOTD appreciates the public’s patience and cooperation and reminds motorists to drive with caution, be attentive to changing traffic conditions, and watch for work crews and equipment in the construction zone.
