Friday, February 27, 2026 at 10:05:00 AM
NEW ORLEANS – The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) has assessed and identified structural concerns on the US 90 Chef Menteur Pass Bridge following a recent bridge inspection, which led to its closure on Thursday.

DOTD Bridge Maintenance crews are currently fabricating repair components and will be performing repairs next week. DOTD anticipates the bridge will be returned to service shortly after repairs are completed. The bridge is currently anticipated to reopen to vehicular traffic by Saturday, March 7, 2026, weather permitting.

The US 90 Chef Menteur Pass Bridge is a movable swing bridge that connects eastern New Orleans to St. Tammany Parish near Slidell and carries approximately 1,000 vehicles per day.

Marine traffic remains open.

DOTD will continue to provide updates as additional information becomes available.
